Job summary

The New Zealand Government seeks an Engineering Manager for a flagship Canterbury food processing site. The role reports to the Plant Manager and drives strategic decisions, regulatory compliance, and continual improvement projects to cut costs and lift output.

You will lead the engineering team, manage budgets, and coordinate maintenance and contractor activities while promoting quality engineering practices across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with mechanical preference or equivalent trade cert.
• Min 5 years’ experience in a food processing site.
• Min 2 years’ experience as Engineering/Maintenance Manager.
• Demonstrated experience managing engineers and contractors.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and solid Excel knowledge.

Engineering Manager – Canterbury Food Processing Site

The position is a senior leadership role within a flagship food processing site located in Canterbury.

Reporting into the Plant Manager, the Engineering Manager will oversee strategic decisions and documentation to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, compliance, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will use continual improvement skills to identify and implement technical projects and programmes that improve processes, reduce costs, or increase output.

• Manage the Engineering department

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, pref. mechanical engineering OR Trade Certification equivalent

• Demonstrated experience in managing engineers & contractors
• Familiarity with CMMS systems & solid Excel knowledge
