Job summary

IHC New Zealand in South East Auckland is seeking a part-time Support Worker to assist in our Community Hub in Otara. You will help create engaging days for people with intellectual disabilities, supporting social connections and meaningful activities.

No prior experience required; a positive attitude, patience, and good communication are valued. You will work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am–3pm, with opportunities for growth and qualification support.

Qualifications

• Ability to support people with intellectual disabilities.
• Patience, creativity and willingness to learn.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable using computers and tablets.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.
• Experience with community mapping is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Create fun and engaging days for people with intellectual disabilities.
• Support activities like art, music, cooking or fitness.
• Assist with outings and events in the wider community.
• Help build friendships and social connections.
• Support people to develop new skills and thrive.
