Job summary

AWF Group is seeking an Electronics Assembler/Assembly Technician for a fixed-term 3-6 month assignment in Onehunga, New Zealand. The role involves winding HTS coils and assembling complex superconducting magnet components for advanced space technology projects in a research and development environment.

You will perform soldering, testing, and fine assembly on delicate components, while ensuring quality and documentation in a cryogenic lab setting. Great attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in precision mechanical, electrical, electronic, or electromechanical assembly in manufacturing, laboratory, aerospace, medical device, or similar environments.
  • Proven ability to perform detailed hands-on work such as coil winding, soldering, fine assembly, or intricate component manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards, inspection processes, and accuracy in technical manufacturing.
  • Experience using testing equipment and following technical drawings, assembly instructions, or documented procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Wind high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet coils to exact specifications with high precision.
  • Assemble complex electromechanical hardware and superconducting magnet components for space tech applications.
  • Perform manual soldering, bonding, masking and fine assembly on delicate components.
  • Conduct quality inspections, functional testing and troubleshooting of assemblies and fixtures.
  • Prepare materials, clean components, complete production documentation and support lab activities.

Electronics Assembler/Assembly Technician | Fixed Term 3-6 Months | Onehunga

AWF's client is at the forefront of advanced space technology, developing cutting-edge superconducting magnetic systems for use in next-generation spacecraft and space infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled Electronics Assembler/Assembly Technician to join a specialist team manufacturing precision hardware in a research and development environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Wind high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet coils to exact specifications, ensuring exceptional precision and consistency
  • Assemble complex electromechanical hardware and superconducting magnet components used in advanced space technology applications
  • Perform manual soldering, bonding, masking, and fine assembly work on delicate components and assemblies
  • Conduct quality inspections, functional testing, and troubleshooting of assemblies, fixtures, and hardware to identify and rectify faults
  • Prepare materials, clean components, complete production documentation, and support manufacturing activities within a laboratory and cryogenic environment

What You Need
