Job summary

Skills Group in Napier is seeking an experienced electrical professional to join as an Electrical Tutor, sharing practical knowledge and helping apprentices grow in confidence.

You'll deliver block courses and day-release training, assess student work, foster a safe learning environment and help maintain training facilities. The role welcomes those new to teaching and offers development support with health, leave and learning benefits to back your career.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration with a full practising licence, Inspector's Licence, or an Electrical Engineering degree (or similar qualification).
• Extensive practical experience in the electrical industry.
• Previous people management or supervisory experience.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• A patient, supportive approach and genuine interest in helping others learn.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, practical and theory-based electrical training through block courses and day-release programmes.
• Share your industry knowledge to help apprentices develop their technical skills and confidence.
• Assess and mark student work, provide constructive feedback and monitor learner progress.
• Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages student achievement.
• Help prepare and maintain training facilities, equipment and workshop resources.
• Contribute to course improvements and promote safe working practices throughout training.
