Job summary

Skills Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Trainer to join our modern Highbrook campus in East Tāmaki. You will deliver theory and practical electrotechnology training, assess learners, and help develop resources to shape New Zealand's future electrical workforce.

The role welcomes those with strong industry knowledge and a passion for developing others; teaching qualifications can be pursued with our support. A collaborative team and ongoing professional development await.

Qualifications

• A current New Zealand Electrical Registration (Full Practising Licence, Inspector's Licence, or an equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification)
• Hold Unit Standard 4098 and Unit Standard 11551, or be working towards them. If you don’t currently hold these, you’ll need to be willing to obtain them with Skills Group’s support as part of your professional development.
• Strong practical experience in the electrical industry
• Ideally, experience in adult education or training (although we can support you to develop in this area)
• Strong communication and coaching skills, with a passion for developing others
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience with PV solar systems is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging classroom and practical electrotechnology training
• Assess learner competency and provide constructive feedback
• Develop and maintain high-quality training materials and practical learning resources
• Deliver training covering electrical theory, regulations, standards, and industry best practice
• Stay up to date with industry developments and emerging technologies
• Work collaboratively with the wider training team to continuously improve learning programmes
