The role emphasises adaptability, lifelong learning and strong commitment to te ao Māori, te Tiriti o Waitangi, and inclusive teaching practices to support student success.
You will share your electrical knowledge, industry experience, passion and creativity with ākonga (learners) from a wide range of backgrounds. You will create an engaging and culturally safe learning environment, teaching practical and theoretical skills while recognising the strengths, identities and aspirations that each ākonga brings.
The key to your success will be your adaptability, enthusiasm for lifelong learning and willingness to grow your cultural capability. You will inspire the next generation of electrical tradespeople through practical, sustainable and learner-centred teaching.
You will have recent and suitable industry experience and qualifications, be used to using a computer or similar and have good knowledge and expertise in all areas of the Electrical trade.
Experience working with Māori and Pāsifika learners, whānau or communities, and an understanding of culturally responsive practice, will be an advantage. We particularly welcome applicants who can bring lived experience, knowledge of te ao Māori, mātauranga Māori and/or Pāsifika cultures into an educational or industry training environment.
You will bring a respectful, open and learner-focused approach and be willing to work with people from all cultures and walks of life. You will understand that strong relationships, a sense of belonging and culturally safe practice are important to ākonga success. Safety will be important to you, and we will support you to develop your teaching practice.
The successful applicant will uphold our organisation’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi by continuously developing and upholding your understanding of our obligations and connection with Te Tiriti as an individual and as an organisation
Through recognition, empowerment and inclusion, you will give greater acknowledgement to the unmet needs of Māori, Pasifika and disabled people and their whanau.
