Job summary

Meridian Energy is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to lead maintenance across Upper Waitaki’s hydro generation assets (Ohau A, B, C). You’ll guide the Electrical Trades team, schedule safety-focused maintenance, and support on-call fault responses from the Generation Control Centre.

Relocation is supported, with travel to remote sites as required. You’ll contribute to a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and help optimise plant performance while mentoring apprentices and

Qualifications

  • Trade or Advanced Trade Certificate in Electrical Trades.
  • Current registration with EWRB.
  • Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop others.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Proactive approach to health, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Experience using maintenance management systems.
  • Experience in hydro generation, heavy industrial environments or high-voltage plant would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Team Lead and Site Owner to ensure staff are in the right place to maintain the plant to the right standard.
  • Provide leadership and technical coaching to the Electrical Trades team, as well as training and support for electrical apprentices.
  • Plan, schedule and supervise maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
  • Actively contribute to projects and initiatives.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and proactively manage hazards and risks.
  • Repair, maintain and install electrical equipment in accordance with Meridian standards and electrical regulation.
  • Achieve and maintain the competencies necessary to hold access permits to apply and remove safety isolations and operate plants under remote supervision from our Generation Control Centre.
  • Manage all documentation relevant to the role, ensuring accurate information is recorded and completed on time.
  • Participate in the on-call roster as required, providing immediate response and resolution to faults and defects.
  • Support the reliability and performance of critical renewable energy assets that help power New Zealand.

Job Description

Join a team responsible formaintainingand operating some of Aotearoa's most iconic hydro generation assets. As Electrical Supervisor,primarilybasedatourUpperWaitaki Hydro Power Stations,OhauA,OhauB andOhauC,you'llprovide leadership, technicalexpertiseand hands-on support to ensure our plantoperatessafely,reliablyand efficiently.

In this role,you'll:

Meridian is a NZ-wide operation and there may be the requirement of short periods of travel to suit the operational needs of the business.Additionally, the role involves reactive maintenance andmonitoringoutside of normal working hours on a rostered basis once trained.

Relocation for the role is supported.

Qualifications
