Job summary

Contact Energy is seeking an Engineering Manager for the BESS 2 project in New Zealand. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, guiding design, procurement, construction and grid connections to deliver lifecycle‑focused outcomes.

You’ll manage interfaces with consultants, vendors and stakeholders, drive technical quality and risk management, and shape operation and maintenance concepts for new assets while aligning with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• An engineering degree or equivalent qualification and significant engineering experience.
• Experience leading cross‑functional project teams and steering complex technical work.
• Strong leadership capability across project delivery, contracts and asset lifecycle.
• Knowledge of regulatory and safety environments for major infrastructure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and leadership for the BESS 2 project from design through to operation.
• Own key engineering decisions and manage interfaces between consultants, vendors and stakeholders.
• Ensure technical quality, risk management and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to operation and maintenance thinking for new assets and the broader program.
