Job summary

Lightsource bp is seeking a Senior Commercial Engineering professional in Auckland, NZ to lead technical due diligence, design, and coordination across global projects. You will manage engineering activities from development through construction, interfacing with developers, EPCs, and technology partners.

The role requires deep knowledge of Solar PV and BESS, strong stakeholder management, and proven ability to balance technical and commercial objectives within a fast-moving energy transition

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Renewable Energy or related field).
• 10+ years of experience in Renewable Energy (Solar PV and BESS).
• Experience with large-scale Solar PV, BESS and Hybrid projects in the region.
• Knowledge of OEM, EPC, ICP and O&M contract structures.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering activities to support the Project Development process (including acquisitions).
• Lead Technical Due Diligence and manage internal/external engineering service providers.
• Undertake Energy Yield Assessments (EYA) and LCOE optimisation for new projects.
• Lead concept design development, sizing, layouts, SLDs and BOP systems.
• Coordinate and manage Technical Advisors locally and internationally.
• Review bids/reports for compliance with Principal’s Requirements and Contracts.
• Lead technical negotiations with OEMs and EPC/ICP/O&M Contractors.
• Site visits to greenfield sites and sites under construction.
