Job summary

InterGroup in Christchurch is seeking a reliable Class 4 Driver / Operator to join our infrastructure team. This hands-on role mixes heavy vehicle operation with practical on-site work across multiple sites, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

The successful candidate will operate Class 4 vehicles, set up and pack down equipment, perform basic maintenance, and keep clear records while working with a supportive team in varied environments.

Qualifications

• Current Class 4 NZ driver licence is essential.
• Heavy vehicle driving experience required or highly preferred.
• Hands-on, practical approach with willingness to learn.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 4 vehicles for infrastructure services, including sweeping and sump maintenance.
• Operate specialist equipment and complete hands-on work at sites.
• Set up and pack down equipment.
• Complete pre-starts, vehicle checks and basic equipment maintenance.
• Work safely around roads, traffic and the public.
• Complete job records and report issues.
• Work independently and with the wider team as required.

CLASS 4 DRIVER / OPERATOR – CHRISTCHURCH

DRIVE IT. OPERATE IT. GET STUCK IN.

We’re looking for a reliable Class 4 Driver / Operator to join our Christchurch Infrastructure team.

This is a hands‑on role combining heavy vehicle operation with practical infrastructure work across Christchurch. You’ll operate specialist vehicles and equipment, work across different sites and jobs, and get involved in the work rather than spending all day behind the wheel.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Operating Class 4 vehicles for infrastructure services, including sweeping and sump maintenance
• Operating specialist equipment and completing hands‑on work at sites
• Setting up and packing down equipment
• Completing pre‑starts, vehicle checks and basic equipment maintenance
• Working safely around roads, traffic and the public
• Completing job records and reporting any issues
• Working independently and alongside the wider team as required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Current Class 4 NZ driver licence
• Heavy vehicle driving experience
• Experience operating specialist equipment is an advantage
• A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to learn
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different conditions
