Job summary

InterGroup is seeking a reliable Class 2 Driver / Operator to join the Tauranga Infrastructure team. The role blends heavy vehicle operation with hands‑on infrastructure work across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

You’ll handle waste, sludge, and potentially contaminated materials, and you’ll have opportunities to learn new equipment and progress toward a Class 4 licence. The work is hands‑on and outdoor, with a mix of vehicle checks, site setup, and on‑site duties.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Class 2 driver’s licence.
• Experience with heavy vehicles or specialist equipment is an advantage.
• Practical, hands‑on approach to work.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in dirty/unpleasant conditions.
• Physically fit and willing to get stuck in.
• Reliable, safety‑focused and responsible.
• Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 2 specialist vehicles on varied sites.
• Carry out street sweeping, litter collection and infrastructure maintenance.

CLASS 2 DRIVER / OPERATOR – TAURANGA

MORE THAN JUST DRIVING.

We’re looking for a reliable Class 2 Driver / Operator to join our Tauranga Infrastructure team.

This is a hands‑on role combining heavy vehicle operation with practical infrastructure work across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

The work is varied, but it can also be dirty. You may be working around waste, sludge, wastewater and other unpleasant materials, so you need to be comfortable getting stuck in and doing the job properly.

There’s also plenty of opportunity to learn new equipment and develop your skills, including working towards a Class 4 licence and cross‑skilling into hydro excavation and other specialist operations.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Operating Class 2 specialist vehicles


• Street sweeping, litter collection and infrastructure maintenance


• Supporting drainage, sump and waste‑related work


• Operating specialist equipment and carrying out hands‑on work on site


• Setting up and packing down equipment


• Completing vehicle and equipment checks


• Working safely around roads, public areas, waste and potentially contaminated materials


• Working as part of a crew and independently when required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
