Job summary

Turbo Staff is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to work on long-term projects across residential, commercial, and construction sectors in Canterbury. Excellent hourly rates are offered for individuals who thrive in busy, supportive teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience operating excavators.
• Experience operating other heavy machinery (rollers, bulldozers, pavers, graders).
• Current Class 2 or Class 4 Full Driver Licence with WTR endorsements.
• Experience operating excavators with GPS is advantageous.
• Proven experience across roading, drainage, trenching and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain excavators (1.5T–30T) and other heavy machinery safely on civil sites.
• Perform trenching, paving prep, backfilling and boxing out for roads and drainage.
• Work safely in deep trenches and around live services and utilities.
• Assist with site deconstruction and prep for upcoming works.
• Read site plans and follow instructions to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining excavators (1.5T to 30T) and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently on civil construction sites.
• Performing trenching, paving preparation, backfilling, and boxing out for roads, kerbs, channels, and drainage systems.
• Working safely in deep trenches and confined spaces, particularly around live services and utilities.
• Assisting with deconstruction and site preparation tasks to ensure readiness for upcoming works.
• Reading and following site plans, blueprints, and work instructions to complete tasks to the required quality standards and project deadlines.

Requirments

• Minimum of 3 years' experience operating excavators, with strong knowledge of excavator operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Experience operating other heavy machinery, including rollers, bulldozers, Moxy dump trucks, pavers, and graders.
• Current Class 2 or Class 4 Full Driver Licence with WTR endorsements.
• Experience operating excavators with GPS technology is advantageous.
• Proven experience working across a range of projects, including roading, drainage, trenching, subdivisions, and infrastructure projects.
• Competitive hourly rate of $30-$40 per hour.
