Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Christchurch is seeking a NZ Registered Dietitian to join the Specialist Mental Health Service at Hillmorton Hospital on a permanent, part-time basis (0.4FTE).

This role covers both inpatient and outpatient services, focusing on nutrition assessment, treatment planning, and education for tatāngata whaiora and whānau. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Must be a NZ Registered Dietitian with current APC.
• Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience.
• Mental health experience advantageous.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with patients, whānau and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based dietetic services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Assess nutrition-related conditions and diagnose.
• Develop and implement nutrition treatment plans.
• Evaluate outcomes and modify plans as needed.
• Educate tatāngata whaiora, whānau and carers on health practices.

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated New Zealand Registered Dietitian to provide effective, evidence-based dietetic services to our tatāngata whaiora and their whānau! This is a varied opportunity across both inpatient and outpatient services - working within the Specialist Mental Health Service, Hillmorton Hospital.

About You

• Assessing and diagnosing nutrition-related conditions;
• Formulating and implementing appropriate nutrition treatment plans;
• Evaluating treatment outcomes and modifying treatment according to changing needs;
• Promoting health practices and providing education to tatāngata whaiora, whānau and carers.

Skills and Experience

• Be a New Zealand Registered Dietitian, a dietitian prescriber with a current Annual Practising Certificate;
• A minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience;
• Previous experience working in a mental health setting and/or working with eating disorders is advantageous;
• The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a wide range of patients, whānau and multidisciplinary teams;
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently and reliably.
