Job summary

Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd in Wellington is seeking a hands-on Heavy Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy-duty trucks using diagnostic tools, perform routine maintenance, service, and inspections, and support apprentices on site.

You'll work a 40-hour week with a rostered Saturday and after-hours callouts, with opportunities for travel for training within the Sime Motors group. Secure, varied career growth and benefits are on offer.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
• Commitment to safety and team safety culture.
• NZQA or equivalent certification in heavy transport is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy trucks using diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and inspections.
• Mentor apprentices and share knowledge with colleagues.
• Be prepared for rostered Saturday work and after-hours callouts; travel for work/training as required.
