Job summary

South Wairarapa District Council in Martinborough is seeking a Development Engineer with a civil engineering background to help grow our region’s infrastructure. You will assess development proposals, provide engineering and transport advice, and help ensure roading and development projects meet standards and legislative requirements.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline.
• 2–3 years' experience in development or infrastructure engineering.
• Knowledge of legislation, NZS 4404, and council requirements.
• Strong project management and stakeholder communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess and review resource consent, subdivision, and development applications; provide engineering and transport advice.
• Ensure works comply with legislative requirements and council standards.
• Undertake site inspections and monitor projects through design, construction and completion.
• Prepare technical reports and hearing evidence to support decisions and programmes.
• Contribute to engineering standards, strategies, and future infrastructure programmes.
