Rich in heritage and proudly known as the Home of Champions, Waipā is experiencing significant growth across our towns and communities. Our Development Engineering team works closely with developers, consultants, contractors, internal teams and our communities to support quality development and find practical solutions.

As a Senior Development Engineer, you’ll provide technical expertise across subdivision and land use projects, with a focus on complex consents, infrastructure planning, water services, roading and asset management.

You’ll have the autonomy to assess and influence development proposals, provide trusted technical advice and help resolve complex engineering issues. You’ll also mentor Development Engineers and contribute to building technical capability across the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical advice on complex subdivision, land use and infrastructure projects.
  • Assessing development applications and recommending engineering requirements and consent conditions.
  • Reviewing engineering designs and supporting s223 and s224 certification.
  • Providing advice on three water services, roading, infrastructure planning and asset management.
  • Working with developers, consultants, contractors and internal teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Supporting pre-application meetings, hearings and other technical processes as required.
  • Mentoring and developing Development Engineers.
  • Contributing to improvements in Council processes, standards, quality assurance and bylaws.
