Job summary

Farra Engineering Ltd in Dunedin, New Zealand, invites a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team on an immediate-start, short-term contract basis. You will own end-to-end mechanical designs, coordinate resources, and ensure on-time delivery.

Reporting to the General Manager - Engineering, you will develop technical drawings in CAD, perform calculations or FE analysis as required, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Qualifications

• Formal Mechanical Engineering qualification at diploma level or higher.
• Experience developing technical drawings and CAD work.
• Experience solving mechanical problems with standards compliance and FE analysis or Mathcad calculations.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and development.

An opportunity has come available for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Farra family. This is an immediate-start opportunity, and we're keen to welcome the right candidate as soon as possible. Short-term contract opportunities are available for the right candidate. Reporting to the General Manager - Engineering you will have a high level of motivation and the ability to work across all divisions, interacting with customers, and managing works and progress on projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and development
• Ensure your design comply with due standards
• Ensure your progress align with project plan
• Owning your design end to end, co-ordinating internal and external resources to facilitate projects are completed on time, within budget, and meeting our customers highest expectations.
• Personally demonstrate and champion the expected behaviours and norms of all staff so to reinforce the Farra Values

About you

We are looking for an energetic, proactive, and organised person to join our team.

Skills

• A sound engineering knowledge with an ability to understand and develop technical drawings with experience in CAD.
• Experience in access equipment including building maintenance units (BMU) would be preferred but is not required.
• Employees with experience with solving mechanical engineering problems while being compliant to relevant standards verified by Mathcad calculations or by FEA analysis are encouraged to apply.
• A formal Mechanical Engineering qualification at a Diploma level or higher.
