Job summary

Fairhall School in Marlborough is seeking a Deputy Principal to join the leadership team. This pivotal role oversees the Phase 3 area and Gold Team (Phase 2–3 learners), driving high-quality teaching practices and a well-rounded curriculum in a sunny semi-rural setting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate energetic, visionary leadership, a strong classroompractice background, and a commitment to building positive relationships with students, staff, whānau, and community.

Fairhall School is looking for an energetic and visionary deputy principal to join our leadership team. This pivotal position offers an exciting opportunity to lead our Phase 3 area and oversee the Gold Team (Phase 2–3 learners).

Situated in sunny Marlborough, Fairhall School is a thriving semi-rural school dedicated to high-quality teaching practices, a well-rounded curriculum, and rich EOTC experiences.

As Deputy Principal, you will:

• Lead and coordinate school-wide curriculum development, teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the school.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, whānau, and the wider community.
• Champion a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive school culture.
• Provide confident, empathetic, and effective leadership to our team.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is an excellent classroom practitioner and experienced educational leader.
• Values the special and unique nature of Year 7-8 teaching, with experience and passion in this space.
• Leads with clarity, empathy, and confidence, inspiring others to succeed.
• Highly organised, solution-oriented, and skilled at balancing competing priorities.
• Demonstrates full commitment to meeting the responsibilities of the role, actively supporting leadership and allocating time for required meetings and tasks beyond regular school hours.
• SENCO – proven capability to oversee and guide Special Needs initiatives across the school.
• Brings energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun to the role, celebrating others' successes.
• Actively promotes and champions PB4L (Fairhall Fair4all) practices across the school community.
