Primary and intermediate (Years 1-8) / kura tuatahi, Deputy principal

We are seeking an experienced and highly relational educator to join Redwoodtown School as Deputy Principal from the beginning of 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior leadership team of a positive, progressive and well-established school in beautiful Marlborough. Our departing Deputy Principal has moved into a principal role, creating an opportunity for a new leader to bring their own strengths, experience and perspective to our team.

The position includes 4 permanent Management Units and a 0.4 teaching component, with flexibility around how the teaching component is provided.

Our Deputy Principal will work closely with the Principal, existing Deputy Principal, Team Leaders and staff to provide leadership across teaching and learning, student wellbeing, staff development and the day-to-day life of the school.

We are looking for someone who is visible, approachable and highly relational; an excellent teacher who can also coach, mentor and positively influence others. The successful applicant will be confident leading professional dialogue, supporting staff through complex situations and helping translate school priorities into effective classroom practice.

Student support and wellbeing will be an important aspect of the role. We value inclusive, restorative and solution-focused approaches, alongside clear expectations and strong relationships with learners and whānau.
