Job summary

Foodstuffs North Island is seeking a Second-in-Charge (2IC) for the busy Deli & Seafood Department. This hands-on role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced fresh-food environment, with strong organisational skills and a pride in quality and customer service.

You will support the Department Manager in day-to-day operations, lead the team, assist with food preparation and stock management, and ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are met. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in deli/seafood or fresh foods is preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Reliable, organised and able to work under pressure.
• Comfortable using computer systems for ordering and stock management.
• Weekend shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager with day-to-day running of Deli & Seafood department.
• Lead, support and motivate the team.
• Assist with food preparation and production, including preparing prepared meals and ready-to-go products.
• Ensure products are prepared, packaged, labelled, displayed and rotated to a high standard.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, presentation and cleanliness.
• Assist with stock management and ordering.
• Use SAP and computer systems for ordering, stock control and inventory.
• Provide friendly and helpful service to customers.
• Help manage workflow and ensure daily production targets are met.
• Step up and take responsibility in the Department Manager’s absence.
