Job summary

Foodstuffs North Island operates a New World Milford store, and is seeking an experienced Deli Manager to lead the Deli department with pride in quality, service, and presentation. You'll coach a high-performing team, drive exceptional customer experiences, and ensure freshness and food safety.

The role covers stock control, pricing, rostering, and achieving sales and profit targets in a hands-on leadership position.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Deli leadership role.
• Passion for food, presentation and quality.
• Strong customer service mindset and a customer-focused culture.
• Solid understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements.
• SAP experience is an advantage.

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Deli Manager to lead our Deli department and a team that takes pride in delivering quality products, exceptional service, and a shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, has a genuine passion for food, and thrives on creating a department that is well-presented, well-stocked, and consistently performing at a high level.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As Deli Manager, you'll take ownership of the department and lead all aspects of its day-to-day operation, including:

• Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team.
• Delivering outstanding customer service and creating a positive shopping experience.
• Maintaining exceptional standards of freshness, quality, presentation, and food safety.
• Ordering, stock control, waste management, and inventory accuracy.
• Pricing integrity and promotional execution.
• Rostering, labour management, and team productivity.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements.
• Achieving sales, wage, and profit targets.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, performance, and the overall customer experience.

• Has proven experience in a Deli leadership role.
• Leads by example and enjoys developing and supporting others.
• Has a passion for food and takes pride in presentation and quality.
• Understands what great customer service looks like and how to build a customer-focused culture.
• Is organised, reliable, and able to work well under pressure.
• Has strong commercial awareness and the ability to drive department performance.
• Has a sound understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements.
• Experience with SAP is an advantage but not essential.
