Job summary

Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking a proactive Second-in-Charge for our busy Deli & Seafood Department to support daily operations and lead the team. This hands-on role is fast-paced and customer-focused, with duties ranging from food preparation and packaging to stock management and ensuring high food-safety standards.

You will assist the Department Manager, mentor staff, and step up in their absence. Weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in deli/seafood or fresh foods preferred.
• Hands-on food preparation and team leadership abilities.
• Comfortable using computer systems for ordering and stock control.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager with day-to-day operations.
• Lead, support and motivate the team.
• Prepare and assemble trayed meals and ready-to-go products.
• Ensure products are packaged, labelled, displayed and rotated to high standards.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, presentation and cleanliness.
• Assist with stock management and ordering.
• Use SAP and computer systems for ordering and stock control.
• Provide friendly customer service and manage workflow.
• Step up in the Department Manager’s absence.

This is ahands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced fresh-foodenvironment, has good organisational skills and takes pride in producingquality food and providing excellent customer service.

About therole:

• Assist the Department Managerwith the day-to-day running of the Deli & Seafood department
• Lead, support and motivate theteam
• Assist with food preparation andproduction, including preparing and assembling our range of trayed-upmeals and ready-to-go products
• Ensure products are prepared,packaged, labelled, displayed and rotated to a high standard
• Maintain excellent standards offood safety, hygiene, presentation and cleanliness
• Assist with stock management andordering
• Use SAP and computer systems forordering, stock control, inventory and other department requirements
• Provide friendly and helpfulservice to customers
• Help manage workflow and ensuredaily production requirements are met
• Step up and take responsibilityin the Department Manager’s absence

Aboutyou:

• Previous experience in a deli,seafood, fresh foods, food preparation or supermarket environment ispreferred
• Enjoy working with food and arecomfortable with hands-on preparation
• Strong communication, leadershipand organisational skills
• Comfortable learning and usingcomputer systems for ordering and stock management
• Reliable, organised and able towork well under pressure
• A positive, hands-on approachand strong work ethic
• Flexible availability as oneweekend shift required to be worked
