Job description

Data Engineer – Permanent position located in Auckland CBD, flexible hybrid work (3 days work‑from‑home, available for team events/activities).

Reports to the Head of Strategy and Architecture and works within a 7‑person team. The core purpose is to support the Data Architecture stream by optimizing enterprise data management and unlocking the value of data through effective platforms and capabilities.

Key responsibilities include co‑designing, developing, maintaining, and improving enterprise data assets, systems, and data integration pipelines to support the organization’s data strategy.

Will collaborate closely with an external vendor and the Principal Architect, focusing on data warehousing, data lake, data management, and corporate databases.

Qualifications & Experience

• 2–9 years of experience in data engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Azure Synapse (non‑negotiable).
• Experience with Azure data platform technologies – data lakes, Delta tables, Azure integration tools, and Pyspark.
• Exposure to Azure Synapse Fabric is a plus.
• Experience with PowerBI for data visualization is beneficial.
• Demonstrated commitment to stability and a non‑job‑hopper mindset.
• Valid New Zealand work visa required; sponsorship is not offered.
