Job summary

Platinum Recruitment in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and optimise data pipelines, platforms and models that power analytics across the enterprise. You will collaborate with analysts, engineers and business teams to deliver secure, scalable and trusted data solutions.

The role blends hands-on engineering with opportunities to improve data quality, platform performance and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills with production data solutions experience.
• Experience with Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform.
• Practical knowledge of ETL/ELT, data integration and pipeline orchestration.
• Sound data modelling skills, including dimensional modelling and layered/medallion architectures.
• Experience with Python or scripting, source control and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of data quality, governance and security; streaming/observability or data catalogue tools are advantageous.

• Create well-structured data models and curated datasets for analytics and reporting.

About the role:

Design, build and optimise data pipelines, platforms and models that support analytics and reporting across the enterprise. You'll work with technical specialists, analysts and business teams to turn complex requirements into reliable, secure and scalable solutions.

The role combines hands‑on data engineering with opportunities to improve data quality, platform performance and engineering practices. A collaborative, service‑focused approach will be important when working across a broad range of stakeholders.

Role responsibilities:
