GBL - Part of the Salt Group is seeking a Databricks specialist Data Engineer in New Zealand. The role reports to the Director and collaborates with a team of 10+ engineers.

Wellington offers an intermediate level while Auckland may require senior expertise, with onsite 5 days a week at the CBD office. The position focuses on proactive data engineering work, client delivery, and developing internal capabilities, with exposure to Google Cloud and SAP components.

Qualifications

• Solid Databricks project experience at intermediate level in Wellington or senior level in Auckland.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Datasphere is valuable.
• Experience in a Google Cloud shop; AWS experience is useful.
• Consulting background preferred; strong client communication in a fast pace environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop data engineering solutions for clients.
• Maintain and nurture ongoing client relationships.
• Contribute to internal data engineering capability development.
• Document industry best practices for data engineering and analytics.
• Assist sales in promoting data engineering solutions and create NZ market service offerings.

• We are now hiring a Databricks specialist Data Engineer, reporting to the Director and working with a team 10+ Data Engineers, a Manager / Lead and 1 Cloud Engineer.
• Location : Auckland (Senior level) OR Wellington (Intermediate level)
• Salary range –
• Intermediate : 100k to 120k
• Senior : 130k to 150k p.a. ; based on experience and background (flexible for the right fit, let’s talk)
• Onsite role : 5days a week @ CBD office; highly flexible otherwise
• Role:
• It is a proactive future-planning (new role) hire rather than a replacement. This is currently the main need in the business, as they are forecasting new DATABRICKS focused projects across their clients and currently, the existing team is very busy.
• If located in Wellington, a more intermediate person could be mentored by a very senior Databricks specialist already in Wellington. In Auckland, the person may need to operate more autonomously, which could favor a more senior hire.
• Development of Data Engineering Solutions
• Maintaining and nurturing excellent ongoing client relationships.
• Involved in continued development of internal data engineering team’s capability (for a senior)
• Documentation of industry best practice for Data Engineering & Analytics solutions.
• Assist the sales team in selling data engineering solutions to customers whenever required.
• Create Service Offerings and Solutions based on NZ market.
• The company remains utilization-focused, with consultants expected to work primarily during normal business hours on billable client work.
• Onsite role : 5days a week
• You’re likely the one if you:
• Solid experience with DATABRICKS projects as an Intermediate (for Wellington) OR Senior (for Auckland).
• Strong Databricks experience is the primary requirement. Experience on active Databricks projects/depth is preferred over certifications alone.
• SAP S/4HANA and SAP Datasphere experience are considered valuable.
• Client is primarily a Google Cloud (GCP) shop. AWS experience is also useful and common among clients. Microsoft technologies are lower priority compared to that.
• Consulting background (preferred, not mandatory).
• Worked in big / complex projects. (preferred, not mandatory).
• Have a stable work history (preferred)
• Good communications (all forms) given the role is client facing.
• Someone who is passionate about Data & Analytics and gets excited by new & interesting projects in Data, Analytics & AI.
