Tribe Recruitment – Auckland, North Island is seeking a senior, hands-on data platform leader to deliver modern data platforms and analytics for enterprise clients. You will lead delivery, shape solutions, and partner with stakeholders from discovery to production-ready data products.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and consulting, building robust Databricks platforms and uplifting patterns and tooling for tangible client value.

• Develop high-quality pipelines using PySpark/SQL with focus on performance and reliability.
• Implement CI/CD, testing, observability, and secure-by-design delivery.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate problems into technical delivery plans.
• Coach team members and support capability uplift.
• Contribute to proposals, estimates, and future opportunities.

About the role

We’re partnering with a well-regarded consultancy delivering modern data platforms and analytics outcomes for enterprise clients. This is a senior, hands‑on role for someone who can lead delivery, shape solutions, and partner closely with stakeholders from early discovery through to production‑ready data products.

You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and consulting: building robust platforms in Databricks, uplifting ways of working, and helping clients get tangible value from their data.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading end-to-end delivery of data platform and analytics engagements (discovery → design → build → uplift → handover).
• Designing and building Databricks solutions (lakehouse patterns, medallion architecture, Delta, batch/stream where relevant).
• Developing high-quality pipelines and transformations (often using PySpark / SQL), with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Implementing good engineering practices: CI/CD, testing, observability, documentation, and secure‑by‑design delivery.
• Partnering with client stakeholders to translate business problems into pragmatic technical approaches and delivery plans.
• Coaching others in the team (reviewing work, setting standards, supporting capability uplift).
• Contributing to proposals, estimates, and shaping future opportunities (depending on your interest).
