Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician for the AKL Cluster to support data center facilities and critical equipment, including LV electrical lineups, diesel generators, HVAC and fire suppression systems.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise vendors, and act as a first responder to incidents, applying safety standards and industry best practices while helping to maintain reliability and efficiency across our Auckland data centers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.
• 5+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Manage your site, including the collocation vendor and associated sub-contractors, ensuring that all work is performed to AWS high standards, observing established practices, procedures & local legislation.
• Reviewing the management of both routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of critical systems such as: switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
• Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses & prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations & maintenance.
• Create and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability.
