Job summary

South Taranaki District Council is seeking an experienced Data and AI Engineer to design, build and maintain data platforms, integrations and reporting solutions that underpin informed decision-making across the organisation.

You will help advance AI capabilities, develop AI-ready datasets and data products while ensuring data governance, privacy and security. This is a fixed-term role with NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics or related field.
• Strong SQL and Microsoft Power BI skills, including data modelling, reporting and dashboard development.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data platforms, integrations and reporting solutions.
• Ensure data is secure, reliable and governed with privacy and security in mind.
• Develop scalable data pipelines, ETL processes and enterprise reporting using SQL, Azure and Power BI.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver AI-ready data products and analytics solutions.
