Job summary

Downer Invercargill is seeking a Cyclic Patrolperson to monitor and maintain our roading network. Based in Invercargill, you will perform scheduled inspections and respond to issues to keep roads safe and accessible for the public.

This hands-on role requires independence, good decision-making, and a commitment to safety. You will work across maintenance tasks including pavement and drainage, vegetation control, and clearing obstructions, with opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Class 2 Driver Licence.
• Experience in road maintenance, civil construction, or similar outdoor environment preferred.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental practices.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field.
• Good communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake programmed road inspections.
• Carry out routine maintenance activities.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Transport and Infrastructure business as a Cyclic Patrolperson based in Invercargill.

In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking programmed road inspections, carrying out routine maintenance activities, and responding to emergency events to help keep the roading network safe and accessible for the public. You'll work across a variety of maintenance tasks including pavement repairs, drainage maintenance, vegetation control, and clearing road obstructions while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is a varied and hands-on role requiring someone who can work independently, make sound decisions in the field, and respond effectively to changing operational requirements, including participation in an after-hours callout roster.

Important Skills

• Current Class 2 Driver Licence
• Experience in road maintenance, civil construction, or a similar outdoor operational environment is highly regarded
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• Good communication and reporting skills
