Job summary

Hamilton City Council is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to join the Digital Services team. The role focuses on security by design, supporting the cyber roadmap, handling incidents and risk management with cross-functional collaboration across Cloud, Network, and Service Desk.

You will influence cyber strategy, manage security standards, and contribute to improving the organisation's security posture while working in an established Agile team across multiple business units.

Qualifications

• Relevant certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, CEH, ISO Auditor, GIAC).
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices and tools.
• Experience with cyber security defense across People, Process and Technology.
• Familiarity with security frameworks.
• Ability to perform security assessments and vulnerability analysis.
• Understanding of cloud security and virtualization technologies.
• Hands-on experience with security tools.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
• Experience in implementing and maintaining security controls.
• Proven track record of identifying and mitigating security risks.
• Ability to champion our Cyber and Risk Function within Digital Services and across the organisation.
• Ability to handle the pressure of multiple deadlines.
• Value the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Work in agile ways in both the Cyber team and cross functionally with other teams.
