Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking a customer service and labouring all-rounder to join our small, tight-knit team. You'll be out front with customers, help unload vehicles, weigh and grade materials, and keep the yard tidy.
This full-time role is 45 hours a week, including Saturdays, with training provided. You’ll be on your feet, bring a can-do attitude, good English, and a willingness to learn new skills (forklift training available).
We're after a customer service and labouring all-rounder to join our small, tight-knit crew. Every day you'll be out front meeting customers, helping unload vehicles, weighing and grading materials to sort out their value, and making sure the yard's looking tidy. No two transactions are the same, and neither are the characters who walk through — tradies, weekend warriors, and everyone doing a garage clean-out in between.
This job is on your feet, hands-on, and all about connecting with good people every day.
A bit about us
We're a tight-knit crew, and we genuinely like the work and the people we do it with. We care about doing things properly, but we still know how to have a laugh along the way. We invest in our people, back them with real training, and want every single person on the team to actually look forward to their shift.
The role, in a nutshell
Full-time, 45 hours a week, including every Saturday, 9am to 4pm (so Sundays are yours, plus one weekday off)
Physical, hands-on work: unloading vehicles, weighing and grading materials, keeping the yard shipshape
Front-of-house energy — talking with customers, weighing their load, and having a laugh while you do it
Real room to build this into a proper career, with training along the way
You, if this is your kind of gig
You're a confident communicator, with strong spoken and written English
You're fit enough for lifting and unloading, no need to be a bodybuilder, just willing and capable
You've got reasonable computer skills and know how to use a tablet and we'll happily train you up on the rest
You notice the details and are always keen to find a better way of doing things
You're solution-focused, reliable, and bring a can-do attitude to everything you do, that's non-negotiable in this role.
You've got a genuine sense of humour and don't mind a laugh on the job
Bonus points for a forklift licence/F endorsement. No stress if you don't have one, we'll get you trained within your first six months
At the end of the day, if you've got the right personality and work ethic, we can teach you everything else.
Ticking most of those boxes? We want to hear from you.
Your application will include the following questions:
You'll need NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, and you'll need to pass a pre-employment medical and drug test.
