Gravitas Media in a university setting seeks a Customer Service & Administration Coordinator to support retail, merchandise and print operations. You will handle front-counter service, enquiries, orders and stock coordination while delivering accurate administrative support.
The role requires proactive, organised individuals who can work independently and maintain a professional retail environment with strong attention to detail.
This is a varied, hands-on position for an experienced, confident and highly organised individual who enjoys working across customer service, administration, retail, print and merchandise.
Based in a busy university environment, you'll be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of our retail operation, working closely with university staff, students, suppliers and our wider team.
This is much more than a traditional retail position. You'll take ownership of front-counter service, customer enquiries, order processing, stock coordination and general administration, ensuring everything runs professionally, accurately and efficiently.
We're looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful and comfortable working independently. You'll need to think on your feet, manage competing priorities and take pride in delivering excellent service without requiring constant direction.
For the right person, there is also scope to contribute to merchandise development, product presentation and promotional activities.
While experience in print, merchandise or branding would be an advantage, strong administration skills, sound judgement and a genuine interest in customer service are what matter most.
You'll become part of a friendly, supportive and professional team within an established New Zealand business.
Deliver outstanding front-counter customer service to students, university staff and other customers.
Manage incoming enquiries, resolve routine issues and provide accurate information.
Process print and merchandise orders, including job entry and administration.
Operate POS and EFTPOS systems, handle payments and complete daily cash reconciliation.
Coordinate stock levels, inventory, replenishment and merchandise presentation.
Manage daily shop opening and closing procedures.
Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal production teams.
Assist with quoting, order follow-up and general sales support.
Provide basic print and production-related support.
Maintain an organised, professional and well-presented retail environment.
Prioritise daily tasks and proactively identify and resolve issues.
We're looking for a capable, personable professional who takes ownership, uses initiative and enjoys getting things done.
You'll bring:
Proven experience in customer service, office administration, sales support or retail operations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A confident, friendly and professional manner and a tidy well-presented appearance for client facing.
Strong computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems efficiently.
Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
Sound judgement, practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
The confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Reliability, consistency and a strong sense of responsibility.
A genuine interest in retail, merchandise and administration.
The ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
Experience with inventory management, branded merchandise, print, promotional products or similar industries would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, delivering excellent customer service and making things run smoothly.
