The position will report directly to the Head of Retail, Japan, SEA & Oceania.

MISSION

This Store Manager role plays a pivotal part in achieving commercial objectives and enhancing brand awareness and desirability in New Zealand The role will be responsible for:

  • Management of the store target by constantly monitoring sales performances through the main KPIs analysis, establishing and implementing specific action plans in cooperation with the Area Manager
  • Support the Area Manager in creating market growth in the long term, managing partnership and commercial relationships within the whole local market
  • Ensure the right store merchandising assortment of products is on offer
  • Manage the overall store presentation, maintaining appropriate visual display and store standards, and ensuring that products are showcased accordingly with the brand's image and standards to boost sales
  • Attract, manage, develop, inspire, motivate and empower the team.

This is a permanent, full time role providing at least 38 hours of per week and will pay between $34-$41 per hour.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • You will have at least three to four years of comparable global luxury retail sales experience with brands that focus on the apparel that we sell. Of the three years of work experience at least 2 years should be at a supervisory/management level.
  • Flexibility is a must, you must be able to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and engage thoughtfully.
  • A team player who values collaboration and can work towards common goals.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy store. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining high standards, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day store operations, including hiring, scheduling, training, performance management, supervising employees, and rostering.
  • Manage store profitability and control expenses, including labour costs, inventory levels, and handling cash and inventory shortages.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels, core product range, and effective merchandising.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns, including seasonal and holiday promotions, to drive sales and attract customers.
  • Monitor and optimize the product mix to meet customer demands and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment and Health & Safety Legislation at all times.
  • Negotiate supply and pricing agreements with suppliers to optimize costs.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly banking and turnover reports.
  • Prepare annual budgets and work to achieve store performance goals within budget constraints.
  • Implement and enforce daily operating procedures to ensure the store is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Conduct regular stock takes according to company policy.
  • Continuously enhance store performance and uphold high standards in customer service.

Person Specification

  • Must have either Diploma Level 5 or two years of relevant work experience

Duration: Permanent fulltime – 35 hours per week

About the Role

We are seeking a capable Retail Manager to organise and control the day-to-day operations of our retail store and support the effective delivery of retail sales and customer service.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in retail sales, product selection, product mix, staff rostering, staff training and supervision, stock management and retail promotional activities.

The role will also support the store's engagement with customers from Asian markets. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin Chinese, with Korean or Japanese language ability preferred.

When tourism groups or other organised customer groups visit the store, the Retail Manager will welcome customers, present and explain relevant products, provide recommendations and assist with retail sales.

Skills & Experience — Essential

At least 1 year of relevant experience in gift shop, souvenir or tourism retail, or a closely related retail sales environment.

Experience in retail sales and customer service.

Strong retail selling and customer service skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively with domestic and international customers.

Good organisational and problem-solving skills.

Language Skills

Good proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.

Korean or Japanese language ability is preferred.

Experience communicating with Asian customers is advantageous.

Qualifications & Additional Skills

A relevant tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Marketing , Business, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline is advantageous.

Understanding of customer purchasing behaviour, market trends and retail sales performance is advantageous.

Experience working with international visitors or in tourism-focused retail is advantageous.

Knowledge of New Zealand products is advantageous.
