Job summary

Motion in Christchurch seeks an autonomous account manager to own a local customer portfolio across the industrial sector. You will build trusted relationships, grow key accounts and uncover opportunities using Motion’s product and service range to keep operations moving.

You will work with experienced sales, engineering and branch teams to develop your technical and commercial capability, enjoying an incentive structure and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of sales experience, preferably in industrial engineering, manufacturing or technical services.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Proven ability to identify and convert growth opportunities within existing accounts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a strategic sales plan alongside the wider Motion network.
• Manage and grow a portfolio of key customer accounts.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within your territory.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maximise customer opportunities.
• Deliver responsive, premium service and practical solutions for customers.
• Support the wider team with day-to-day account requirements.

What kind of work may be involved?

• Develop and deliver a strategic sales plan alongside the wider Motion network

Ideal skills & experience:

• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• A curious, practical, and solutions-focused approach.
• 3-5 years of experience in sales, preferably within industrial engineering, manufacturing, or technical services.
• Confidence working with customers across industrial, construction, and trade environments
• A proven ability to identify and convert growth opportunities within existing accounts
• Positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team
• Excellent negotiation skill
• Self-motivated with a strong customer service orientation and business acumen
• Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
