Job summary

Green by Nature and the Council are seeking a Seasonal Custodian for a fixed-term role from November 2026 to February 2027. Based at the Wanaka depot, the position covers the Wanaka Region and requires a full driver’s licence.

Your duties include cleaning and sanitising public facilities, tidying grounds, and keeping stock of essentials. Weekend availability is preferred, with rostered start times between 7am and 9pm.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining stock levels for soap, toilet paper and hand towels.

Seasonal Fixed Term opportunity from Nov 2026 till the end of February 2027!

This role will be based out of the Wanaka depot however the role will take place across the Wanaka Region.

Hours: Monday - Friday withvariable start and finish times between 7am to 9pm depending on your rostered shift.

What does a Custodian do, you ask?

In this role, you’ll help keep public toilets and facilities such as BBQ's, water fountains around the town centre, lakefront, and surrounding areas clean, safe, and inviting for all visitors.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning and sanitising high-touch surfaces, including taps, sinks, handrails, door handles, and toilets.
• Performing routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and bathroom cleaning.
• Tidying external grounds, including rubbish collection, leaf blowing, and water blasting.
• Maintaining stock levels for soap, toilet paper, and hand towels.

Ideally, you’ll be available full-time, with weekend availability but we can make small adjustments for the right person. You will also know your roster in advance in order to plan your leisure time!

About You

You’ll be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, passionate about delivering excellent customer service, and able to represent Green by Nature and the Council professionally. You should be capable of working independently and prioritise safety for yourself, the team, and the public. Ideally, you’ll also have a full, class 1 driver’s licence with manual driving capability to be able to drive our vehicles.
