Xe.com in Christchurch, New Zealand, is hiring a mid-level full-stack engineer who owns end-to-end problems from API design to backend services and production readiness. You’ll build features that move money across currencies and contribute to a modern platform stack.

You’ll work with product, design and compliance, use AI-assisted tooling daily, and help modernize legacy services. The role emphasizes hands-on coding and delivering customer-facing capabilities in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years building production web applications, end-to-end.
• Strong frontend proficiency with Vue.js, React, or equivalent.
• Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET preferred; other OOP languages welcome.
• Solid SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Writing and maintaining tests as part of how you ship.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools across the SDLC.
• Production experience on AWS, including hands-on deployment and native services (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda).
• Strong communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and design.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features across the stack that move money and manage multi-currency balances.
• Ship customer-facing features from interface to services behind them.
• Own services in production: reliability, observability, on-call, incident response.
• Partner with product, design, and compliance from problem framing through launch.
• Use agentic coding tools daily across prototyping, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
• Modernize the platform by migrating legacy parts into the new stack.
