Job summary

Xe is seeking a senior backend engineer to own end-to-end problems, from API design to production reliability. You will craft backend services moving money across currencies, lead cross-functional delivery, and shape the platform layer as Xe rebuilds its backend stack.

You’ll mentor engineers and work closely with product, compliance, and operations. You’ll use Copilot and other AI tools daily, design scalable architectures, and drive modern deployment practices while collaborating with

Qualifications

• 6 to 10+ years building production backend services.
• Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET; other OOP languages welcome (Java, Kotlin, Go).
• SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Writing and maintaining tests.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools across the SDLC.
• AWS production experience: deployment, CI/CD, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda.
• Strong system design and architecture experience (microservices, event-driven).
• Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.
• Technical leadership: mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, architecture decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend services that move money and manage multi-currency balances across domains.
• Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations from problem framing through launch.
• Lead the build of partner integrations and settlement infrastructure in your domain.
• Own production health for your domain: reliability, observability, on-call, incident response.
• Lead design reviews, set technical direction, mentor mid-level engineers.
• Use agentic coding tools daily across the SDLC and modernize from legacy to the modern stack.
