Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a Credit Assurance Senior Manager to provide independent assurance over credit risk within lending portfolios. You will influence lending approaches and contribute to safer, better outcomes for customers and stakeholders.

In this role, you will lead assurance activities, engage with stakeholders, drive improvements to controls and risk practices, and mentor the team while delivering high-quality recommendations and insights.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in credit risk management or assurance within banking.
• Strong knowledge of credit policies, standards and procedures.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high-quality assurance activities across lending portfolios supported by data analysis.
• Support the delivery of ASB’s credit assurance plan.
• Manage risk by identifying issues and incidents in Line 2 assurance.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure assurance outcomes are valued and understood.
• Contribute to improving the bank’s control environment and risk practices.
• Provide high-quality recommendations to improve lending risk management.

The Credit Hindsight and Credit Portfolio Assurance (CPA) Team is part of ASB's Risk Management division. We provide an independent view of how well credit risk policies and processes are applied across the business and credit teams.

We're looking for a Credit Assurance Senior Manager with strong credit expertise, a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving high-quality outcomes for customers, stakeholders and the business.

As a Credit Assurance Senior Manager, you'll provide independent assurance over credit risk in ASB's Lending Portfolios. Your insights will influence how we lend, and they'll make a real difference to customers, stakeholders and the business.

The role is varied with opportunities to work on improving processes and resolving challenge. You'll do it alongside a supportive, collaborative team that invests in your growth and celebrates the wins along the way.

Every day, you will:

• Lead and deliver high-quality assurance activities across the lending portfolios supported by data analysis
• Support the delivery of ASB’s credit assurance plan
• Risk management – effective management of Line 2 assurance risks, identifying issues and incidents as they arise.
• Stakeholder engagement – playing an active role in effective stakeholder communication ensuring assurance outcomes are valued and well received.
• Contribute to improving the bank’s control environment and risk management practices.
• Help the bank deliver its products and services to customers better, sooner and safer.
• Knowledge sharing – taking pride in inspiring and motivating others to share knowledge and upskill each other in your area of expertise.
• Lead by example by role‑modelling ASB’s values, behaviours, and growth mindset.
• Demonstrated experience in a credit risk management or assurance role in Small Business, Commercial, Corporate Banking segments (+5 years).
• Capacity to work to a timetable and meet objectives and targets.
• Ability to undertake analytical research and contribute to high-quality recommendations.
• Good communication and influencing skills, delivering high-quality outcomes and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability in building strong customer relationships based on credibility, rapport and trust.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills
• Strong knowledge of credit policies, standards and procedures
