Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a Credit Assurance Manager to provide independent assurance over credit risk in Lending Portfolios. You will influence lending decisions and contribute to process improvements, supported by a collaborative team that values growth and its people.

You will lead high-quality assurance activities, deliver the credit assurance plan, and engage stakeholders to ensure outcomes are valued. A disciplined, customer-focused approach and strong credit policy knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a credit risk management or assurance role in Small Business, Commercial, Corporate Banking segments (3+ years).
• Capacity to work to a timetable and meet objectives and targets.
• Good communication and influencing skills, delivering high-quality outcomes and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of credit policies, standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high-quality assurance activities across lending portfolios with data analysis.
• Delivery of ASB’s credit assurance plan.
• Manage Line 2 assurance risks, identify issues and incidents as they arise.
• Stakeholder engagement to ensure assurance outcomes are valued and well received.
• Contribute to improving the bank’s control environment and risk management practices.
• Build strong customer relationships based on credibility and trust.
• Develop high-quality recommendations through analytical research.

The Credit Hindsight and Credit Portfolio Assurance (CPA) Team is part of ASB's Risk Management division. We provide an independent view of how well credit risk policies and processes are applied across the business and credit teams.

We're looking for a Credit Assurance Manager with strong credit expertise, a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving high-quality outcomes for customers, stakeholders and the business.

As a Credit Assurance Manager, you'll provide independent assurance over credit risk in ASB's Lending Portfolios. Your insights will influence how we lend, and they'll make a real difference to customers, stakeholders and the business.

The role is varied with opportunities to work on improving processes and resolving challenge. You'll do it alongside a supportive, collaborative team that invests in your growth and celebrates the wins along the way.

Every day, you will:

• Lead and deliver high-quality assurance activities across the lending portfolios supported by data analysis.
• Delivery of ASB’s credit assurance plan.
• Risk management – effective management of Line 2 assurance risks, identifying issues and incidents as they arise.
• Stakeholder engagement – playing an active role in effective stakeholder communication ensuring assurance outcomes are valued and well received.
• Contribute to improving the bank’s control environment and risk management practices.
• Help the bank deliver its products and services to customers better, sooner and safer.
• Knowledge sharing – taking pride in inspiring and motivating others to share knowledge and upskill each other in your area of expertise.
• Lead by example by role‑modelling ASB’s values, behaviours, and growth mindset.
• Demonstrated experience in a credit risk management or assurance role in Small Business, Commercial, Corporate Banking segments ( +3 years).
• Capacity to work to a timetable and meet objectives and targets.
• Ability to undertake analytical research and contribute to high-quality recommendations.
• Good communication and influencing skills, delivering high-quality outcomes and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability in building strong customer relationships based on credibility, rapport and trust.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of credit policies, standards and procedures.
