Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery in Ponsonby, Auckland is seeking a Part-Time Cook/Café All-Rounder to join a small, friendly team. You will cook brunch items, prepare cabinet foods and help the FOH team create a memorable guest experience.

This role suits a quick-thinking, reliable person with café or brunch experience, willing to start early (as early as 6 am) and to work weekends. Barista skills are a bonus, but training is provided.

About Us

Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery is tucked away behind Ponsonby Central, overlooking the greenery of Brown Street Reserve. Barker’s of Geraldine, established in 1969, is a favourite in many Kiwi households, and we still produce all our products on the corner of the original family farm to this day.

The Role

We are seeking a part time Hospitality enthusiast to join our small team. Someone who can cook and also likes to get out of the kitchen, joining with the FOH team to create a great guest experience.

Specifically searching for a reliable, quick-thinking individual who likes to get creative and is keen to help us with our goal of showcasing our amazing Barker’s products in all of our food and beverages.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Cook a variety of brunch menu items and preparing cabinet food.
• Assist the kitchen team in menu development.
• Collaborate with front of house staff to ensure a seamless guest experience.
• Prepare barista-style coffee (training available if needed).
• Maintain flexibility to work both in the kitchen and front of house.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in cooking, ideally in a café or brunch setting.
• A quick-thinking, reliable, and creative individual.
• Ability to work early shifts (starting as early as 6 am) no late nights required (except special occasions).
• A friendly attitude and willingness to engage with guests.
• Barista skills would be a bonus, but not essential.
