Job summary

Nanakhospitality Limited is hiring 4 cooks for full-time permanent roles in Whanganui. Work hours are 30–35 per week with a minimum 30 hours guaranteed, and pay ranges from $26.00 to $32.00 per hour.

You will prepare and cook food, regulate oven temperatures, portion and plate dishes, and meet dietary requirements. NZ citizenship or residence visa preferred; work visa required for non-residents.

Qualifications

• NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification in cookery field, or at least 1 year relevant work experience.
• Be available to work on weekends and public holidays as per the roster.
• Flexibility to work within a 7-Days a week operation including split shifts.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills and team spirit.
• Able to work till late evenings.
• Can pass drug test and have a clean police record.

Responsibilities

• Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality.
• Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
• Preparing and cooking food.
• Seasoning food during cooking.
• Portioning food, plating, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes.
• Storing food in temperature controlled facilities.
• Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements.
• May plan menus and estimate food requirements.
• May train other kitchen staff and apprentices.

Nanaknospitality limited operates a number of businesses including Orange Cafe, LalQila (previously known as Castle Eatery & Bar), Pizzacato and Loaded Burger in the centre of Whanganui. The company is now looking for 4 Cooks.

Work location: Whanganui

Length of employment: Full time and permanent.

Hours: 30 to 35 hours per week (Minimum 30 hours guaranteed)
