Job summary

Panners Bar & Kitchen on Kawarau Gorge is seeking a passionate chef to join our close-knit kitchen team. This full-time role (minimum 30 hours per week) requires weekend and public holiday availability and offers a scenic, supportive workplace.

You will prepare and cook quality dishes from fresh ingredients, present meals to a high standard, maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen following safety rules, and collaborate with the team to meet menus within stock and budget.

Qualifications

• At least three years' experience in a café or restaurant, or NZQF Level 5 qualification.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Available to work weekends and public holidays.

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic chef to join our kitchen team.

This role is based at Panners Bar & Kitchen on Kawarau Gorge, offering a unique and scenic workplace. We're a close-knit team passionate about creating memorable guest experiences through great food and genuine hospitality.

We're looking for someone with at least three years' experience in a café or restaurant, or a relevant NZQF Level 5 qualification. You'll be passionate about cooking, eager to learn, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential.

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Applicants must be available to work weekends and public holidays as required.

Competitive pay of $27–$33 per hour, based on your skills and experience.

This is a varied role where you will:

Prepare and cook quality dishes using fresh ingredients.

Help create and present food to a high standard.

Maintain a clean, organised kitchen while following food safety and hygiene requirements.

Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver menus within budget and available stock.

Have a full driver's licence and reliable transport.
