Job summary

Nelson Marlborough Health in Nelson Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic team. Qualifications

• Holding FRACP and NZGESA accreditation is required.
• Annual Practising Certificate with appropriate vocational scope.
• General Internal Medicine background is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a provincial hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care across gastroenterology conditions.
• Manage inpatient and outpatient services and support general medical colleagues.
• Conduct gastroenterology clinics and perform diagnostic and endoscopic procedures.
• Contribute to service development and continued improvement.

Education

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)

Specialist accreditation in gastroenterology (NZGESA-recognised)

Annual Practising Certificate and vocational scope of Internal Medicine

Trained in General Internal Medicine (preferred)

Ability to work independently in a provincial hospital setting

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include managingboth inpatient and outpatient services, supporting general medical colleagues,conducting gastroenterology clinics, and performing diagnostic and endoscopicprocedures. You’ll be part of a collegial and supportive team ofexperienced physicians with diverse subspecialty interests. Our team worksclosely with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and primary careproviders to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Department of Medicine comprises 16 specialist physicians with adiverse range of sub-specialties, including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, haematology,nephrology, oncology, and respiratory. Theteam prides itself on collaboration, mentorship, and providing expert careacross Nelson Marlborough region. You will be joining a highly collegialenvironment where shared decision-making and professional development areencouraged.

The Gastroenterology service at Nelson Hospital offers a comprehensivespectrum of care, including outpatient and inpatient consultations, endoscopicprocedures, and multidisciplinary care planning. The service is supported bydedicated nursing staff. Nelson Hospital provides care for a diverse populationacross the Nelson Marlborough region, with opportunities for involvement inboth acute and elective gastroenterology services.

• Hold Fellowship of the RoyalAustralasian College of Physicians or equivalent.
• Specialist accreditation ingastroenterology (NZ Gastroenterology Society-recognised)
• Hold or be eligible for an AnnualPractising Certificate and vocational scope of Internal Medicine with theMedical Council of New Zealand.
• Trained in General InternalMedicine (preferred)
• Ability to work independently in aprovincial hospital setting
