Accountant

We are seeking a qualified accountant to manage all of the company’s accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and cost analyses for logistics and 3PL operations. This position is responsible for all core accounting tasks, such as account reconciliation, Goods and Services Tax (GST) filings, and statutory reporting, to ensure sound financial controls and data accuracy. The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and be proficient in Xero or MYOB software.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, management accounts and financial reports for the company.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and provide financial information to management.
- Monitor and analyse the company’s income, expenditure, operating costs and cash flow.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including reviewing supplier invoices, customer accounts and payment records.
- Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor and analyse logistics-related operating costs, including vehicle expenses, fuel costs, freight charges, subcontractor costs, repairs and maintenance, and other transportation expenses.
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts and monitor actual financial performance against budget.
- Analyse the profitability and cost performance of transport and logistics operations and provide financial reports to management to support business decision‑making.
- Prepare and review GST returns and assist with other taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain appropriate accounting procedures, financial controls and record‑keeping systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Assist management with financial planning, cost control and cash‑flow management.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, suppliers and other relevant parties regarding financial and accounting matters.
- Assist with payroll‑related accounting, including reconciliation of wages, PAYE and other payroll‑related expenses.
- Ensure the company’s accounting records and financial reporting comply with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Maintain and update fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Job Requirements:
- Academic: A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Software: Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar systems.
- Accounts: Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
- Skills: Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention: Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records.
