RobLawMax Recruitment in Wellington is seeking a Construction Manager to lead the delivery of around 6 architecturally designed homes each year for a design-focused residential builder where quality, client experience, and craftsmanship come first.

You will oversee pre-construction through handover, coordinate labour and subcontractors, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering bespoke or architecturally designed homes in New Zealand.
• LBP Site 2 qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Trade-qualified carpenter background preferred.
• Digitally motivated to utilise project management and client management software.
• Professional, well-presented, and confident dealing with high-end residential clients.
• Excellent understanding of NZ residential construction practices and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Managing the construction of architecturally designed homes per year.
• Coordinating and leading labour and subcontractor crews.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for homeowners throughout construction.
• Conducting regular client meetings, progress updates, and site walk-throughs.
• Managing construction programmes, critical paths, and project schedules.
• Monitoring quality, budget, timelines, and site performance.
• Managing variations, site documentation, and project reporting.
• Utilising project management and client communication software to keep projects on track.
• Coordinating inspections and compliance documentation.
• Maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Ensuring health, safety, and site presentation standards are upheld.

Are you an experienced residential construction professional who takes pride in delivering bespoke homes rather than high-volume housing?

We're seeking a Construction Manager to lead the delivery of around 6 architecturally designed homes each year across the Wellington region. This is an opportunity to join a respected, design-focused residential builder where quality, client experience, and craftsmanship come first.

Working closely with the business owner, who comes from an architectural background, along with the Sales and QS Manager, you'll take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring every home is delivered to the highest standard.

The Opportunity

This role will suit an experienced Construction Manager, Site Manager, or Builder looking to step into a highly autonomous position.

You will be responsible for managing multiple bespoke residential projects simultaneously, coordinating labour and contract-only crews, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
