Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking an HSE Advisor for a major South Auckland construction project. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining HSE systems, training staff, coordinating audits, and driving safety compliance across site operations.

You will lead incident investigations, manage permits, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices within the project team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE within construction.
• Proven ability to audit and improve HSE processes.
• Experience delivering HSE training to staff and contractors.
• Strong incident investigation and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the client’s Project Safety and Environmental Plan across site activities.
• Develop site inductions and ensure workers understand risks, controls, and site rules.
• Lead permit-to-work system administration and closure.
• Provide training and mentoring to project staff on HSE duties.
• Manage incident lifecycle, investigations and corrective actions.
• Support emergency preparedness plans and drills.
• Prepare HSE reports highlighting trends and actions.
• Oversee electronic HSE systems and ensure data accuracy.
• Coordinate HSE meetings and audits to drive continual improvement.
• Coordinate drug and alcohol testing per policy.
• Ensure competency attestation and toolbox talks remain current.
• Promote proactive HSE practices among stakeholders.
