Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support delivery of a major data centre construction project in West Auckland. The role is site-based and senior level, requiring a strong background overseeing complex, high-risk construction activities and collaborating with contractors, design teams and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Senior-level construction HSE management experience.
• Experience in high-risk construction environments.

• Degree and/or certification in Health & Safety.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, independent HSE oversight across the data centre construction project.
• Monitor contractor HSE performance and support implementation of safety requirements.
• Identify and manage high-risk activities (excavation, height, lifting, live energy).
• Conduct site inspections and independent HSE audits.
• Review safety planning, lifting plans and related documentation.
• Coordinate safety planning with contractors, design teams and stakeholders.
• Monitor HSE KPIs and support safety reporting and performance reviews.
• Review incidents and investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a positive safety culture and share best practices.

Health & Safety Advisor – Data Centre Construction

West Auckland | Site-Based Project Environment

Shirley Parsons is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a major data centre construction project in West Auckland.

This is a senior-level, full-time site-based opportunity suited to an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background overseeing complex, high-risk construction activities and working closely with contractors, design teams and wider project stakeholders.

You will play a key role in supporting high standards of Health & Safety across the project, providing independent oversight, monitoring contractor performance and driving continuous improvement throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible, independent Health & Safety oversight across the data centre construction project
• Monitor contractor Health & Safety performance and support the implementation of project safety requirements
• Identify and support the management of high-risk activities, including excavation, working at height, heavy lifting and live energy works
• Conduct site inspections and independent Health & Safety audits across construction activities
• Review safety planning, safe work plans, lifting plans and other relevant work documentation
• Support safety planning and coordination with contractors, design teams and project stakeholders
• Monitor Health & Safety KPIs and support project safety reporting and performance evaluation
• Review incidents and near misses, including investigation findings and corrective and preventive actions
• Promote a positive safety culture, sharing best practices and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

• Senior-level experience in Construction Health & Safety management
• Strong experience working within complex, high-risk construction environments
• Extensive experience engaging and working with contractors and project stakeholders
• Experience liaising with design teams and supporting safety planning and coordination
• Degree and/or relevant professional qualification or certification in Health & Safety
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently while taking a collaborative approach to site safety management
