HSE Advisor – Night Shift, Airport Project

Job summary

Southbase Construction seeks an HSE Advisor for a major Auckland Airport project. This role operates on a dedicated night shift, supporting site operations, driving a positive safety culture and maintaining high HSE standards across the project.

Reporting to the Senior HSE Manager, you will collaborate with project leadership, site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to implement HSE plans, manage permits, runs drills and trainings, and drive continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' HSE experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Capability to deliver training, coaching and mentoring.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement with subcontractors and delivery teams.
• Relevant Health & Safety or Environmental qualification or certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and maintaining HSE systems across the project.
• Be a visible on-site presence, providing practical advice and coaching to teams.
• Manage permit-to-work processes and ensure compliance.
• Conduct site inspections, inductions, trainings, audits and drills.
• Investigate incidents and support corrective actions and reporting.
• Monitor HSE performance and prepare leadership reports.
• Facilitate prestarts, toolbox talks and promote proactive safety culture.
