Job summary

CMT Group is seeking a Construction Foreman to lead a hands-on team across Marlborough projects. You will coordinate day-to-day site activities, read plans, and ensure safety and quality on both residential and commercial builds.

We value experienced leaders who mentor others, roll up their sleeves, and drive a strong safety culture while delivering projects on time and to high standards.

Qualifications

  • Extensive building or construction experience.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Practical, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to lead others.
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

CMT Group is seeking a Construction Foreman to lead a construction team across a range of building projects throughout Marlborough.

This is an opportunity for a practical, hands‑on leader who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys mentoring others, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves alongside the team. You'll play a key role in coordinating day-to-day site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our customers expect.

About the Role

As Construction Foreman, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and supervising construction crews on site.
  • Coordinating daily activities to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Reading and interpreting plans, specifications and construction drawings.
  • Constructing a wide variety of residential and commercial projects.
  • Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Managing site housekeeping and maintaining a professional work environment.
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture across all projects.
  • Leading by example and supporting a positive team culture.
What You'll Bring

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and best practices

  • A practical, solutions-focused attitude

  • A Full New Zealand Driver Licence

  • LBP Certification
  • Experience mentoring apprentices and developing team capability
