Job summary

Trade Assist is seeking an experienced Civil Foreman to oversee civil crews across Canterbury. You will lead on-site operations, read plans, and keep projects on schedule while managing plant, materials, and subcontractors. Strong H&S knowledge and the ability to liaise with managers and clients are essential.

Ideal candidates will have proven foreman/leading hand experience, a solid civil background, and the confidence to lead by example in a fast-paced environment with a solid project pipeline.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Civil Foreman or Leading Hand.
• Strong civil background and on-site decision making.
• Good understanding of H&S and site compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise civil crews on site.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations to keep projects on track.
• Read and work from plans/specs.
• Manage plant, materials, and subcontractors.
• Ensure health & safety standards are upheld.

We're on the hunt for an experienced Civil Foreman to join a well-established civil company delivering projects across Canterbury. If you know how to run a crew, keep jobs on track, and aren't afraid to get stuck in when needed - this one's for you.

What you'll be doing:

• Ensuring health & safety standards are upheld
• Liaising with site managers, engineers, and clients

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as a Civil Foreman or Leading Hand
• Strong background in Civil
• Confident running a crew and making decisions on site
• Good understanding of H&S and site compliance
• WTR endorsements and Class 4+ licence (ideal but not essential)
• Ability to lead by example and get stuck in when needed
• Tech-savvy and confident using site management software, plans, and digital tools to keep projects running smoothly
